After heavy illness Evgenie Ignatevich Prochko has passed away – the person-legend, the person-history. Familiar to many as an author of sign, cult materials in history of the domestic car industry, and first of all its military part, Evgenie Ignatevich possessed a really phenomenal volume of knowledge in this area, for decades saving particles of unique data, documents and certificates of irrevocably gone epochs. And all what he wrote about, he knew far not by hearsay. The life many times closely brought together him with many automobile celebrities: Lipgart, Grachev, Osepchugov, Kriger, Dolmatovsky, Vasserman, Muzykin and many-many others. Besides he grew up in a military family, communicated with many outstanding military leaders and thoroughly knew the history of Great Domestic as well as Red army on the whole.

Unfortunately, his realised works is only a very small part of that what could be made. His many things in the days of the USSR simply were not issued in view of undesirability of the theme or its nonconventional illumination gone contrary with the official point of view. Only after a few years, with crash of the ideology, it was possible to make up for lost time, but, alas, it is already far not in all – the more and more health gave a way, the less and less there remains time and strength.

The big contribution was brought by Evgenie Ignatevich also in business of rescue and preservation of unique samples of domestic motor-vehicles. It was his motto « It's not yet late to save! », sounded from pages «ÒÌ» on boundary of 1970-1980-õ, became for many persons a stimulus and a guidance to action. Thanks to its efforts and now all are celebrating a well saved, in the single copy, legendary full-drive of marshal Konev GAZ-11-73 and the rare «three-axial» GAS-AAA (they are exhibits of the GAS museum), without its help it would be impossible the present revival of the last semi-crawler ZIS-42.

The taken loss is irreplaceable. Its scale is realized to the full only in due course. But nevertheless there is left a memory – a light memory of this remarkable and surprisingly generous person, our memory and our gratitude.
